Big Corona Meetup

Event Overview

Join us Saturday, December 1st, 2012 for the first ever Big Corona Meetup where presenters from across the United States will be talking exclusively about mobile app development using the Corona SDK.

This online event will span 6 hours in total and will be broken up into 2 hour sessions. Each session will focus on a key area of app development as presenters walk through examples and answer questions via live chat. If you've ever wanted to develop apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, or Nook, then this an online event designed especially for you.

How much does it cost?
There's no cost to attend this live online event. You can come and go as needed.

Getting Started with Corona SDK

Presenter: Jen Looper, Boston Corona Ambassador

Presenter Bio:

Jen Looper

Jen Looper is the Boston CoronaSDK Ambassador and is happy to share her enthusiasm for building mobile apps of all types. As founder of LadeezFirstMedia. Jen specializes in educational apps and tools for families, including iZhongWen, a kickstarter-funded app live in the App store which teaches conversational Mandarin Chinese, and several ePublications for various platforms.

Jen has experience teaching beginning students at venues such as the Wellesley Code Academy and will be presenting an overview of CoronaSDK in the first section of the BigCoronaMeetup.

When not working at her day job or her moonlighting gigs, Jen is the mom of two teenage daughters and is an aficionado of Arabic music and dance styles. She will be joined by Adam Russell, also a successful app developer, who will join us from Connecticut to discuss graphic design for mobile screens and how to create spritesheets. Corona Labs Team Talk

Presenter: Walter Luh, CEO Corona Labs

The Corona Labs team is always hard at work to make a truly cross platform mobile development platform a reality. So, Walter Luh will be sharing insights into where the platform has been, were it is today, and where it's headed tomorrow. Walter is an inspiring speaker and always has something great to share, so be sure to catch this short session.

Presenter Bio:

Walter is the CEO and co-founder of Corona Labs and the creator of Corona SDK.

Prior to Corona Labs, he led the Adobe Flash Lite engineering team. As Lead Architect, he achieved technical breakthroughs, pioneered advanced mobile research, and jump-started strategic relationships with Texas Instruments and Cisco. With over a decade of R&D experience, he has a proven track record of shipping successful products from mobile runtimes like Flash Lite to industry-standard desktop products such as Adobe Illustrator and Apple’s Final Cut Pro.

“Mobile Game Creation” Basics

Presenter: Brian Gene Burton, Ed.D, Corona Ambassador, Abilene Texas

Will be covering how to make a top-down, physics based game from concept to beta (you would want to add some additional levels before publishing).

Presenter Bio:

Brian Burton

Brian Gene Burton, Ed.D. is a teacher, author, and game developer. Besides authoring “Beginning Mobile App Development with Corona” and contributing to several academic books on serious games and learning in virtual worlds, Dr. Burton has created game development degrees at two universities and enjoys researching and playing virtual environments.

Dr. Burton presents and publishes internationally on his research and enjoys sharing what he has learned about game and mobile development. When not traveling or teaching, he can be found at his home in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri with his beautiful wife of over 25 years, Rosemary. Follow Brian on Twitter
